Wells Fargo EAC Consultant

The EAC Consultant provides professional consultation regarding complex, acute and high risk workplace behavioral health situations to all levels of Wells Fargo management, leadership and HR/ER professionals. The position requires advanced consultative skills preferably built upon a sound collaborative and influence based foundation with a preference toward internal consulting experience.  The position requires a great deal of autonomy, comfort with an almost exclusive telephonic means of consultation and flexibility with job tasks and priorities. This position is 40 hours and will not have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides telephonic clinical/workplace consultation and case management for managers and team members covering a wide range of diagnostic categories and workplace behavioral health situations including: robberies and other critical workplace events, team member deaths, workgroup problems and a variety of team member behavioral health issues with impact to the workplace
  • Provides professional management consultation on all levels of acuity to managers, Human Resource Business Partners and Employee Relations professionals, and other corporate partners about complex behavioral health issues with impact to individual team members or work groups such as:  Fitness for Duty concerns, Threats of Workplace Violence; Change and Resiliency, and TM mental health issues with impact to performance
  • Utilizes and masters advanced consultation methodologies (i.e., Flawless Consulting model) with an emphasis on collaboration and reducing risk
  • Participates in the design and implementation of EAC products, including onsite and virtual presentations, and demonstrates high level Project Management expertise
  • Participates on one or more of EAC’s Service Delivery Teams (e.g., Quality Assurance, Robbery Support, Vendor Management, Data Metrics etc.)
  • Exercises clinical risk management practices to minimize, behavioral, employment and reputational risks at the case level
  • Provides support for and builds new relationships with key stakeholders in one or more of Wells Fargo businesses through:  relationship building, customized EAC services, management consultations, training development and delivery, risk management, and other services tailored to the unique needs of the businesses
  • Demonstrates excellent people management, communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities to ensure the delivery of high quality EAC products and Services
  • Participates in the management of vendor relationships and vendor services
  • Provides work trauma interventions and responses as needed

  • Ability to effectively consult with the highest level of managers, Human Resource and other corporate partners, and team members on a diverse range of topics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent team work and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Comfort and skill in creating and developing business relationships that promote influence


  • 4+ years of  consulting experience in an organizational setting
  • Master’s degree or higher with a behavioral health focus.
  • Professional license to practice mental health


  • Employee Assistance experience comprising: proficiency in the assessment of complex behavioral health issues in the workplace including potentially traumatic workplace incidents;  disaster response; and severe mental health issues
  • Post-Masters clinical experience
  • Advanced consultation knowledge/proficiency (e.g., collaborative/influential consulting models such as Peter Block’s Flawless Consulting)

The EAP Regional Managers will assist (1.) in addressing productivity issues by identifying /assessing and resolving personal concerns, including health, marital, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, emotional, stress or other personal issues that may affect job performance or quality of life issues; 2. provides behavioral health expertise to management, HR business partners, union peer groups through consultation and training. Additionally, the EAP Regional Managers provide specialized assistance in the recognition and treatment of workplace issues, such as workplace violence, critical incidents/emergency response (crashes or suicides), fitness for duty evaluations, Last Chance Agreements, and DOT regulations concerning positive alcohol and drug tests.


  • Conducts confidential and timely clinical psycho-social identification/assessment interviews for employees and family members, determining legal safety and risk (i.e., alcohol/drug problems, threat of violence, suicidality), involved with the employee that may be affecting job performance or organizational factors; use of constructive confrontation, motivation and short-term problem solving to address such problems; referral to health providers or community agencies; case management; working with managed care vendor and follow up

  • Specialized Case Management: Pilot monitoring program; SAP services; Fitness for Duty evaluations, Mandated or Last Chance Agreements; partnering with management, HR, LR, Union for ongoing monitoring; crisis management/threat assessment, CISD/Emergency response services

  • Organizational Consulting/Internal Marketing/EAP Operations: Consults by Divisional Partnering with supervisors, Management and union representatives via telephone, in person follow up, Station visits, E-mail, corporate/union trainings and/or EAP orientation; Alcohol/Drug Management trainings, Benefit Fairs, and Coaching, Responsible for daily operations for specific EAP region, including but not limited to, client management, statistics/reporting, confidential file maintenance and other duties as assigned



  • Masters in Behavioral Health studies required
  • CEAP/SAP required
  • Licensure in Clinical, Social Work, Mental Health, Substance Abuse preferred


  • Comprehensive EAP knowledge required
  • Broad-brush mental health/substance experience required
  • Training/presentation skills required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to handle 24/7 on-call crisis intervention responsibility required
  • CISD formal training required
  • Organizational consultation skills required


  • Minimum 8 years EAP experience post Masters' required
  • 4-5 years’ experience with hands-on substance abuse treatment required
  • Experience working with Behavioral Health Benefit Carve out/case management preferred
  • CISD trained preferred
  • Administrative/management experience including supervision of staff, managed care carve-out MH/SA insurance benefits, planning and development of all aspects of EAP programming required
  • Minimum of 5 years in internal EAP program experience in a transportation setting preferred


  • 30-40% travel
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

County of Los Angeles has an Employee Assistant Program that offers crisis intervention, counseling, referral and trainings to LA County employees.  The EAP program is staffed by two clinicians, one of whom would be departing County Service at the end of April 2016 and we would start recruitment.
